One of our committee members, Nicola Greaves, will be participating in the “Virtual London Marathon” in aid of charity:
To coincide with my birthday this year, in a moment of madness, I signed up for the Virtual London Marathon on 3 October 2021 which runs alongside the marathon in London itself. So if you are stuck for a present please do donate instead to help me raise monies for the worthy causes I have chosen.
First I shall be running in memory of my younger sister Ruth who died suddenly last October and I would like to raise funds for the West Wyndham Stroke Group for an outing in her memory, a Group she so enjoyed going to. Secondly, for Oliver’s wonderful occupational centre in Montluçon and lastly, of course, for animals; the newly established Darquinn animal rescue association in Boussac and the SPA Creuse, Gueret.
I have always admired those who take part in marathons and thought, “why not, whilst I still can” and will be accompanied by my running buddies Ida and Poppy!

Pour coïncider avec mon anniversaire cette année, dans un moment de folie, je me suis inscrite au marathon virtuel de Londres le 3 octobre 2021, qui se déroule parallèlement au marathon de Londres lui-même. Si vous êtes à la recherche d’un cadeau, faites plutôt un don pour m’aider à collecter des fonds pour les causes que j’ai choisies.
Tout d’abord, je courrai en mémoire de ma jeune sœur Ruth, décédée subitement en octobre dernier, et j’aimerais collecter des fonds pour le West Wyndham Stroke Group afin d’organiser une sortie en sa mémoire, un groupe où elle aimait tant aller. Ensuite, pour le merveilleux centre occupationnel d’Oliver à Montluçon et enfin, bien sûr, pour les animaux ; la toute nouvelle association de sauvetage des animaux Darquinn à Boussac et la SPA Creuse, à Gueret.
J’ai toujours admiré ceux qui participent à des marathons et je me suis dit “pourquoi pas, tant que je le peux encore” et je serai accompagnée de mes copines Ida et Poppy !
