Yoga Retreats at the Field Retreat

Our fellow members of AIPB at the Field Retreat are honoured to be hosting two retreats with Acharya Bala this year – not to be missed!

Acharya Bala, the Founder and the Director of Hatha Vidya Gurukulam, comes from the Thrissur district of Kerala in India. His journey began in Yoga at the Vedanta Forest Academy, Sivananda Ashram, Rishikesh, where he attained the basic training in Yoga.

After this he travelled extensively through Northern India. He was fortunate to come across some of the most eminent masters, who shared with him the wisdom to experience the true essence of a Yogic journey.

In 2006 he met his Guru H.H.Srividyamba Saraswathi of Tamil Nadu and received initiation into Naatha tradition. Under the tutelage of his Guru, in 2008, he established Hatha Vidya Gurukulum at Thrisssur, Kerala in order to impart training to Yoga aspirants from all walks of life.

In 2009, under his chairmanship Thapobhoomi, a residential Yoga centre was established on the banks of the Gayathri river at Pazhayannur in Thrissur district of Kerala.

In December 2012, Acharya Bala established the first International wing of Hatha Vidya Gurukulam, in Dubai, UAE.

Acharya has taken up a mission of a ‘Traditional yoga revival movement’ shared through his Yoga teacher trainings/Retreats and Workshops around the globe.

His objective is to impart the knowledge of time tested yoga practices, based on traditional yogic texts, to people who are caught in the stress of our modern age.
